Michael Robotham is an Australian author of crime novels and a ghost writer. He was born in Casino, New South Wales, northeast Australia. His father was a teacher and there were plenty of books at home, but Michael preferred outdoor activities. When he was five years old, the family move to a small farming community, Gundagai, and seven years later to Coffs Harbour where Robotham graduated from high school. He enrolled at Sydney University law school, but since his family were unable to afford the fee he instead got a job as an intern at The Sun tabloid in Sydney in 1979. Around the same time another famous author, the Pulitzer Prize winner Geraldine Brooks, was an intern at another newspaper. Robotham turned out to be a good investigating and crime reporter with a special interest in forensic psychology.
