Algernon Blackwood
The British author Algernon Henry Blackwood grew up in a strictly religious home in Kent. He soon abandoned his Christian faith for Buddhism, thereby laying the foundation for a life-long interest in Eastern mysticism, the occult and Theosophy. He spent a year between 1885 and 1886 with the Moravian Brethren in Germany, and after a failed business attempt he became a dairy farmer in Canada in 1890. Ekman, Kerstin
Kerstin Lillemor Ekman (born Hjort) is one of Sweden's foremost living novelists. She was born in Finspång and grew up in Katrineholm. In 1957 she graduated from Uppsala University with the equivalent of an MA. She was a scriptwriter and producer at the documentary film company Artfilm between 1956 and 1959 and she taught at the Wik Folk Highschool near Uppsala between 1966 and 1970.
